Situated on 100 acres in the small quaint town of Barnstead, NH is a small rustic cape style home, original cemetery of the founders and plentiful fruit trees, pine, hardwoods and the Crooked Run River.
We came across this property listing on Realtor.com and scheduled a showing immediately. Though the entire property was buried under 3 plus feet of snow at the time, we could tell it was a good fit for us. High elevation for the town and area (795 feet above sea level), large open land, tall dense trees and a an old barn… oh, that barn!
It was a painstaking process to buy the property. We encountered hurdles with the listing broker, property insurance, financing and everything else you could think of. I will blog about those scenarios later on. Jared kept reminding me that all great things take time. I felt cursed but stood by as anxious as Jared and watched it all unfold.
We are learning more about the property every day. I cant wait to share all of the little details we pick up along the way on this site for others to either learn by or share in the excitement with me. I joined Ancestry.com just to get a better idea of the names on previous deeds. I discovered a book, The History of Barnstead, written in 1872. It has been a great read and talks a lot about the way of life back then.
Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
